Sensory integration is defined as a neurological process that organizes sensory information received from the body and the environment, enabling appropriate use.
The sensory information taken from the body and the surroundings goes through the processes of perception, interpretation, and integration in the brain, allowing an organized response to be generated. Thus, children adapt to life with sensory information from their bodies and the outside world and make sense of the situations around them.
There are seven senses that allow us to perceive stimuli from the environment and give adaptive responses:

Sensory integration therapy is applied to children or adults who experience difficulties in perceiving these senses. Therapies are conducted in a structured environment and tailored to the child's needs.
During sensory integration therapy, the child only plays, and the therapist guides them to develop their nervous system through intrinsic motivation. Therefore, this therapy must be conducted by a professional occupational therapist.
